CII Programme on War on Waste

CII-Institute of Quality (CII-IQ) is pleased to announce a hands-on and intensive training programme on Waste Elimination. This is in line with CII-Institute of Quality’s objective of playing a pro-active role to enhance competitiveness of Indian industry. Towards this CII Institute of Quality has been encouraging the manufacturing sector to adopt the best practices like TQM, TPM & Lean Methodologies and evolve a road map for building world class facility and infrastructure.
Creating a World–Class facility requires knowledge on appropriate and matching skills and capabilities of its people. Many companies in India and abroad are on this journey. Gurus like Prof Yoshikazu Tsuda, Mr S Yamaguchi, Prof Shoji Shiba, Prof Daniel Jones, Mr Jim Womack have helped some of the manufacturing companies around the world to lead the way. CII IQ has actively promoted adoption of best manufacturing practices both in the Small and Medium as well as large businesses. This has resulted in establishing a large number of success stories in India.
CII-IQ aims to spread these learning’s by offering a Programme on “War on Waste”, in order to offer an opportunity to Indian industry for developing their line managers. This programme seeks to develop the practicing managers to drive Waste Elimination Practices to maintain and enhance a company’s competitive position in the global marketplace.
CII Institute of Quality is organizing a 2-day programme on 26-27 May 2009 Bangalore
Module Objectives :
Ø “Learn to see ” how to eliminate MUDA (waste) in the plant and in the value chain.
Ø “Learn to see” and acquire ability to apply the concept of Value Stream Mapping
Ø Gain an understanding on use and application of tools and techniques required for initiating a waste elimination programme in the organization.
Ø Gain an understanding on how to establish an effective waste elimination programme in the supply chain.
Course Structure :-
This programme is of two days duration, between 9.30 am and 5.30 pm. The sessions are structured to give inputs on the concepts and practices, through classroom lectures and group exercise . The programme aims to enable participants to apply learnings more effectively.
The module sessions would cover:-
Ø MURI, MUDA, MURA, SMED and 5 S
Ø Equipment Maintenance
Ø Poka Yoke, Super Markets and Kanban
Ø Cell Manufacturing
Ø Understanding customer demand
Ø Value Stream Mapping, Developing current and future state map
Course Faculty
Faculty would be from CII Counsellors who have applied the concepts and made them work successfully.

·Practicing Senior Managers with Engineering/ Science background who have worked across supply chain with minimum ten years shop-floor experience from manufacturing companies.
·Functionaries from Marketing, QA, Vendor Development, Production, Production engineering, TQM coordinators, Management Representatives and steering committee members.
