The 2nd Public Grievance Committee meeting for the year 2007 – 08 was held on 20.02.2008 at 11.30 a.m. in the Commissionerate of Customs & Central Excise, Goa.
The meeting was chaired by Shri C. Mathur, Commissioner of Customs & Central Excise, Goa.
The participants present for the said meeting consisted of the following members:
1. Shri Rupesh Shinkre, Goa Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
2. Shri Blaize Costabir, Verna Industries Association.
3. Glen Kalavampara, Goa Mineral Ore Exporters’ Association.
The Chairman, Shri C. Mathur, Commissioner of Customs & Central Excise, Goa, welcomed the members present at the meeting.
No Agenda points were sponsored by the representatives of the Trade / Associations. However, the Goa Chamber of Commerce & Industry presented two agenda points before the meeting, viz., (i) Refund claim of ACGL (ii) Refund claims of M/s. Narayan Bandekar & Sons.
The Chairman requested that the issues for the Public Grievance Committee Meetings should invariably be submitted at least 10 days before the date mentioned in the Notice, so that the matter can be examined after obtaining the required information from different formations of this Commissionerate. The representative of Goa Chamber of Commerce & Industry agreed that the points of a technical nature be taken up during the next meeting.
ANY OTHER POINTS: –
a) Shri Glen Kalavampara requested that the Iron Ore exporters may be permitted to open P.O. accounts for discharging their duty liabilities.
Response:
Chairman informed that this issue has already been considered during a meeting with the trade held at Marmagoa Custom House and it was informed that P.D. Accounts can be opened for discharge of duty liabilities and that they may approach Deputy Commissioner (Appraising), Marmagoa Custom House in this regard.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Chairman thanked all representatives of Trade & Industry of Goa for their active participation and assured all the Members, all the co-operation from the officers and staff of the Commissionerate of Customs and Central Excise, Goa.
Meeting ended with vote of thanks to the Chair.
