Confederation of Indian Industry, Western UP Zonal Office is pleased to announce a Workshop on Works Contract Provisions Under VAT & CST Acts on 29th Aug 2008 at CMA Auditorium, Noida.

The works contracts are not normal sales. In the normal sale there is a transfer of property in definite or ascertained goods. The goods remain same before and after the delivery of the goods. However, in works contracts it does not happen. The goods before the delivery and after the execution of works contracts are different, many times in different form also.

A one day Workshop on Works Contract Provisions under VAT & CST Acts (including Recent Budget changes in the CST Act). The Program will cover concepts of Works Contracts, Interstate Works Contracts, VAT Credits for WC, Specific cases of WC & Service Tax like AMCs, Construction Contracts etc.

Faculty
Mr. Rakesh Garg, a Graduate from Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, has authored a number of books in past 10 years. His first book was released in the year 1999, titled, “Law of Sales Tax on Works Contract in Delhi”. Amongst others, his well recognized books are, Guide with Ready Reackoner to Delhi Sales Tax, Delhi VAT Ready Reckoner, Haryana VAT Ready Reckoner, Concepts of Central Sales Tax, and Goods under Sales Tax Laws.

Recently he has authored two books on Service Tax, titled as-

· Service Tax, CST & VAT on Composite & Works Contracts, and

· Practical Guide to Service Tax Computation & Taxable Services-A Glance.

He has been the Advisor and Convener of Sales Tax Study Circle of N.I.R.C. of the I.C.A.I., who has also conferred upon him the Award for Exemplary Services for Authoring Books and for his contribution as Faculty in Seminars. He also presented papers on Sales Tax/VAT and Service Tax in countless meetings with Professionals, Corporates, CII and other Trade Associations; and contributed as faculty in training programs organized by the Delhi VAT Department for its Officers.
