The Indian retail market, which is the fifth largest retail destination globally, according to industry estimates is estimated to grow from US$ 330 billion in 2007 to US$ 427 billion by 2010 and US$ 637 billion by 2015.
Delhi is India’s largest consumer market with the highest concentration of households with an annual income of US$ 110,000 and per capita income more than double the national average. Delhi is a destination for shopping across India besides its own consumption appetite. It is the principal business and commercial centre in northern India, well complemented by industrial areas in the National Capital Region such as Gurgaon, Faridabad and Noida.
In light of the above, Delhi has the potential to emerge as the Retail Capital of India & Retail Destination of the world. Delhi’s emergence as a global retail destination has the power to transform its environment, its economy and it’s maturing into a world-class city.
In order to bring out leading thoughts on the subject and initiate positive transformation, CII is organising the second edition of Retail Symposium 2008 on “Making Delhi a Retail Destination” on 25 April 2008 at 1000 hrs at Crystal Ballroom, Hotel InterContinental The Grand, Barakhamba Road, New Delhi .
The symposium calls upon government representatives, retailers, traders, allied industry, consultants, architects, planners & economist to learn, voice opinion, exchange views and institute thought leadership on making Delhi a bigger retail success story.
