International Trade Fairs/ Exhibitions abroad.

The Office of Development Commissioner (MSME) has been participating in select International Trade Fairs/ Exhibitions abroad since 1985 through ITPO/EPCs as an export promotion measure under one of its Plan Scheme “SSI-MDA”. In the current year, the office have so far already participated in 3 fairs, whereas another 3 fairs are in advance stage of finalisation. In addition to the following 7 fairs (list available at GSIA office) have also been finalised for participation by MSME. The participation in international exhibitions provides a life-time opportunity to the micro & small enterprises (MSEs), as they get an opportunity to display their products at International Exhibitions/ Fairs where buyers and sellers are able to meet under one roof and negotiate/ generate business enquiries.

2. It is widely felt that the presence of MSEs or their representatives in the fairs/ exhibitions would make on-the-spot negotiations with prospective buyers more effective and meaningful as they are well aware about technical specifications of their products and better equipped to reply to the queries of the visitors. Further, depending on situation they can adopt realistic and flexible approach in respect of pricing, marketing etc. .

3. As per the scheme, the participating units are eligible for 50% subsidy towards space rent and 75% airfare subsidy with overall limit of upto Rs. 1.25 lakhs per participating unit once in a financial year. The women/ SC/ ST entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs from NE Region are eligible for 100% space rent and economy class airfare subsidy subject to upper limit of Rs. 1.25 lakhs (details of the scheme is attached herewith for your ready reference).

4. You would appreciate that office of DC (MSME) is providing an excellent opportunity for the entrepreneurs to get international exposure at highly subsidised rates. You are, therefore, requested to advise your members to contact Director of nearest MSME-Development Institutes or Dy. Director (MA) (Phone No. 011-23062992, E-Mail: [email protected]) for further information in this regard. Please note that due to logistic reasons, this office is not able to entertain any application received after the last date to apply as mentioned in column 5 of the list of fairs to be participated during September, 2008 to March, 2009.
